The US Amateur Disc Golf Championship
June 12-14 2009, Milford MI
PDGA Status: Major
After eight years, the US Amateur Disc Golf Championship is renowned for putting up-and-coming amateur disc golfers to a true test of skill and endurance on "The Toboggan," one of the higest-rated and toughest courses you'll ever face.
The Toboggan started out as temporary course, installed for the 2000 Amateur and Pro World Championships. It was rated #1 by a variety of course designers and professional golfers who filled out a survey circulated by the PDGA, and the course has been used for Am Nationals ever since.
Who will be the next National Champion?
The Discraft Great Lakes Open
June 6-7 (pros), June 13-14 (ams) 2009, Ann Arbor MI
Another monster event this year is the annual Discraft Great Lakes Open.
This event has a long and illustrious history thanks to the hard working and highly organized A3 disc golf club in Ann Arbor, and their fantastic disc golf facility at Hudson Mills MetroPark.
Visitors to Hudson Mills will find two side-by-side 24 holes courses. Each hole enjoys two large concrete tee pads, multiple basket placements, and enough challenges to bring out every shot in your bag. Come see for yourself!
It's not just a tournament... it's an event!
The 2009 Discraft Ace Race
Aug - Oct, Everywhere
Are you ready to gun one? The Disc Ace Race is for you!
Each season, disc golfers from around the world gather at their local courses for one purpose: to throw aces! No putting, no approaching... just runnin' at the chains.
To add to the challenge and excitement, players all throw the same model disc: typically this is a brand new, never-seen-before Discraft prototype disc that is introduced each year especially for the Ace Race. All players get one of these discs to throw, and one to collect. Ace Racers are always the first players to ever throw this new disc design.
Watch for one in your area, or run your own! We'll see you at the Ace Race.
March 5-7 2009, Scottsdale AZ
